Peter Altschuler
Managing Partner
Peter leads Valera Capital, a single-family office investing across private markets—including buyouts and growth equity, private credit, and venture capital—with selective allocations to specialist funds and continuation vehicles. As Principal Investment Officer, he manages the full deal lifecycle from sourcing and diligence through structuring and post-close value creation, and he maintains deep sponsor, lender, founder, and banker networks to originate limited-process opportunities.
He serves on the boards of Sonicu and Siege Media and as a board observer at Salient Global.Before founding Valera, Peter spent more than 15 years in healthcare management consulting, where he sold and led performance-improvement programs that generated millions in financial impact and durable operational gains for health systems and physician groups.
Peter earned a B.A. from the University of Michigan and a Master’s of Accounting from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan.

Eric Altschuler M.D.
Managing Partner
Eric is a board-certified neurosurgeon in Pittsburgh, PA, where he has practiced for over 25 years. Eric earned his medical degree from the University of Arizona and completed both his general surgery internship and neurosurgery residency at the University Health Centers of Pittsburgh Presbyterian-University Hospital. He is certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery.
Beyond his clinical duties, Eric has served as an Unaffiliated Neurotrauma Consultant for the NFL for four years and was recently named Pittsburgh Magazine: Top Doctor by Pittsburgh Magazine in 2021. His academic contributions include numerous awards and leadership roles, such as chapter president of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society at the University of Arizona School of Medicine and president of the Pennsylvania Neurosurgery Society. Eric co-founded and is a Managing Partner at Valera Capital and is integral in due diligence in all investments, particular healthcare.

Elise Altschuler
Managing Partner
Elise is a Managing Partner of Valera Capital. She also is a co-founder and President of Sypur Construction, a full service commercial general contracting firm operating in the Midwest.
Elise earned her Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Syracuse University. She is based in Chicago, IL, where she applies her robust engineering and management skills to drive successful outcomes at Valera Capital.

Timothy Fries
Outside Advisor
Tim is the founder and Partner at JPF Holdings, a private equity firm focused on investing in the lower middle market.  Prior to launching JPF, he was a member of Baird Capital’s US Private Equity group, where he played a pivotal role in the Global Industrial Solutions sector team. Tim also co-founded Lakeview Capital in 2016, an investment firm focused on early-stage investments in e-commerce and digital media solutions, cryptocurrency, tokenized asset platforms, and blockchain technology ventures.
Tim graduated cum laude with a BSE in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan and also earned an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Tim provides investment advice and deal support to Valera Capital.
